AMD Admits That Its New RX 7900 GPUs Are Bad FPS Value for Money

In a recent post on its Radeon graphics lineup, AMD shared the FPS values of its GPUs, revealing that the new RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT offer a worse deal in terms of money per frames than its older models. Priced at $999 and $899 respectively, they provide 372 and 355 FPS at 1080p max settings, which is less than 0.4 frames per dollar.

In the same chart, you can see that the Radeon RX 6000 series still stays strong and offers you a better value in this regard: the 6950 XT gives you 0.484 frames per dollar, while the RX 6700 XT is a clear favorite with its 0.726 result.

To get the numbers, AMD tested the cards on Apex Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, The Callisto Protocol, GTA V, and Overwatch 2 at 1080p max settings. The only exception is the RX 6400, which used the Medium preset and thus achieved 0.849 frames per dollar.

To be fair, 1080p is probably not the resolution you play at if you have an RX 7900, but the decision to include the numbers that sabotage the newest product's value is questionable. Well, at least AMD is honest, we'll give it that.
