Apple said developers have made more than $260 billion since the launch of the App Store and told about the development of Apple services in 2021.
App Store developers have reportedly made more than $260 billion since the launch of the store in 2008. On Monday, Apple Inc. has shared an extensive press release in which the company told about this and other achievements in the development of branded services.
Last January, Apple provided a figure of over $200 billion that developers had earned since the launch of the App Store, so the new stats indicate that developers earned $60 billion in 2021. The company also shared that during the holiday season alone the double-digit growth in customers' spendings was shown compared to last year.
Frankly speaking, out of these $260 billion the press release reported the 30 percent commission that Apple charges for all purchases in App Store needed to be deducted. So, the developers' dissatisfaction with the store is currently high. However, these cuts do not make the figure any less impressive.
Sneaky Sasquatch
Apple also mentioned the success of the Arcade gaming service. The company said that it significantly expanded in 2021 and now it offers users more than 200 games for all tastes. Among the most popular games in the library, Apple noted Sneaky Sasquatch, NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition, The Oregon Trail, LEGO Star Wars: Castaways, and Disney Melee Mania.
For Apple Music, 2021 was "a year of innovation" as the company said. The company claims that its streaming music service currently offers users more than 90 million songs, many of which are available in lossless audio "so that fans can hear music the way artists created it". The service boasts a wide range of features to ensure full immersion in music, including support for spatial audio with Dolby Atmos and dynamic head tracking.
2021 was also an important year for Apple's video streaming service Apple TV+ which won a lot of awards. The platform attracted users with fascinating series produced by Apple, including Ted Lasso, Servant, Mythic Quest, The Morning Show, and others.
