Blizzard Is Making a Brand-New Survival Game

It will be set in an all-new universe, unrelated to existing games.

Blizzard Entertainment, the developer and publisher of StarCraft, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch, is developing a "brand-new survival game for PC and console." The team said the game will be set in an all-new universe, unrelated to existing games.

"Blizzard is embarking on our next quest. We are going on a journey to a whole new universe, home to a brand-new survival game for PC and console. A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored," wrote Blizzard.

The announcement also comes with two pieces of artwork. The team hasn't shared any dates or other title details yet so stay tuned. It will be Blizzard’s first new original property since the release of Overwatch in 2016.

Previously, Microsoft announced they decided to acquire Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Diablo, for $68.7 billion. Microsoft notes it will be the "third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony" when the deal is closed. Learn more here
