The funding will aid the company's push into global markets, the growth of its engineering and marketing teams, and the advancement of product development and community building.
PixCap, a web-based platform for 3D design, has secured $2.8 million in seed funding in a round led by Surge, the rapid scale-up program from Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia. Cocoon Capital, Entrepreneur First, and angel investor Michael Gryseels also participated in the funding.
This funding marks PixCap's next step in expanding globally as it plans to grow its engineering and marketing teams as well as drive further product development, and foster community building.
PixCap was founded in 2020 by CJ Looi and Cyril Nie. It provides a user-friendly 3D design and animation platform that runs on the browser and enables the discovery, editing, collaboration, and export of both static and animated 3D content for various applications such as social media ads, landing pages, product and app design, and more.
It offers a comprehensive library of 3D templates and models (or users can import their own), which can be edited and personalized on the platform. The platform also supports real-time editing and direct exports from the browser, and all models, scenes, and animations can be used commercially. Advanced 3D users can also export in GLTF and FBX formats for compatibility with popular 3D software like Unity, Maya, Cinema 4D, and Blender.
