Creating Destructible Game Objects With Unreal & Houdini

Simon Verstraete continues to experiment with destructible objects in Unreal games.

Simon Verstraete shared a couple of new updates on his game project being made with Houdini and Unreal Engine featuring awesome mechanics. The artists showed how the assets are added and also shared a look at a laser that destroys nearby walls and objects too.

Previously, we shared a tutorial by Simon Verstraete explaining how you can create a destructible asset for your Unreal project. The asset is pre-baked in Houdini so the game engine does not have to simulate making it more game-friendly. The project uses a number of tricks including the Normal vector as velocity in the simulation allowing users to control where the impact should be and how intense it will be.
