Data.ai: Mobile Games Revenue Is Set to Reach Over $21.4bn in Q2 2022

The analysts also predict that the market will generate over $136 in the whole fiscal year.

In a recent Data.ai report, the firm stated that mobile gaming is set to generate over $21.4 billion in consumer spending during the second quarter of 2022. Moreover, the analysts expect that the market is set to surpass $136 billion in the whole 2022 fiscal year.

The report also reads that consumers spent 30% more on mobile games in Q2 2022 than they did over the same period in 2019, prior to the pandemic.

The firm also provided a list of the subgenres that saw the highest growth from quarter to quarter. MMORPG games were the No.1 subgenre on the list followed by MOBAs and 4X March-Battle taking the second and the third places respectively. The top-5 list also included battle royals (No.4) and action RPGs (No.5).

Quite expectedly, the top-grossing titles in the quarter are Tencent's Honor of Kings and miHoYo's Genshin Impact.

The analysts also forecasted that mobile games spending will account for 65% of all app revenue in both iOS and Android app stores in Q2 2022. They expect games will contribute to 72% of consumer spending on Google Play and 62% on AppStore. In total, consumer spending on the two platforms is set to reach $33 billion, according to the firm.
