The winners of the 40th annual Golden Joystick Awards were announced. Elden Ring dominated the ceremony winning four awards including the Ultimate Game of the Year.
During yesterday's live stream hosted by actors Laura Bailey and Troy Baker, known for voicing Joel and Abby in The Last of Us Part II, GamesRadar announced the winners of its 40th annual Golden Joystick Awards. The vote took place among the GamesRadar community who have picked 2022's best games, studios, and gaming hardware.
FromSoftware's hit action RPG Elden Ring dominated the ceremony winning four awards including Best Visual Design, Best Multiplayer Game, and Critics’ Choice Award as well as Ultimate Game of the Year. In addition, the developer of the game also received the Studio of the Year award.
The Nintendo Game of the Year was the action-RPG Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Terrible Toybox's Return to Monkey Island was named the best PC game of the year. Xbox Game of the Year became Obsidian's survival game Grounded, and the best PlayStation game was a cyberpunk adventure game Stray, on behalf of which a cat "accepted" the award.
The rogue-lite action Cult of the Lamb won the Best Indie Game category, while Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course received the Best Game Expansion award.
Actress Mahon Gage, who played Marissa Marcel in IMMORTALITY, was named the Best Performer of the year, beating Christopher Judge, who played Kratos in God of War Ragnarök, among others.
Steam Deck was chosen as the best hardware of 2022. Valve's portable PC scored 65% of the vote, for which the company's president Gabe Newell personally thanked device users.
