MiHoYo's new studio will reportedly work on an AAA open-world game.

MiHoYo, the maker of Genshin Impact from China, announced they are launching a new studio in Montreal, Canada. It is the company's first branch in North America. The new division is said to work with the company's other teams around the world on its new IP.

The studio will be based in downtown Montreal and the current plan is to grow to a headcount of 100 over the next two years. Investment promotion agency Montreal International states the company's next game will be a "AAA open-world action-adventure game featuring shooting-based gameplay within a living, breathing paranormal world."

MiHoYo also says they teamed up with Montreal International and Investissement Quebec on recruitment and education initiatives in the area.
