The announcement follows the shutdown of Google's cloud gaming service Stadia.
Google has presented what it calls "the world’s first laptops built for cloud gaming." Developed together with Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo, the Chromebooks offer an RGB keyboard and 120Hz display to enjoy over a thousand games.
Acer Chromebook 516 GE, ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip and Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook have up to 1600p resolution, immersive audio, and WiFi 6 or 6E connectivity.
Here's what to expect from Acer Chromebook 516 GE (via Forbes):
The suggested price for Acer Chromebook 516 GE is $649.99, it should be available from Best Buy this month in the US.
ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip:
Google's suggested price for this laptop is $699. It should also be available this month.
Lenovo Ideapad Gaming Chromebook:
The suggested price for this one is $399.99. Expect to see it in October.
The laptops will support Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and NVIDIA GeForce Now. They will come with three-month trials for both the GeForce Now RTX 3080 tier and Amazon Luna so you can enjoy cloud gaming.
ChromeOS offers an easy way to find games you can play from the cloud: just search for them in the launcher.
Google's announcement of the cloud gaming laptops has made many players, let's say, surprised as the company shut down its cloud gaming service Stadia just a couple of weeks ago, with some developers who had created games for the service unaware of the decision.
