Harrison Ford Digitally Inserted in Solo with AI

Deep learning artificial intelligence was used to carefully insert the face of the famous actor into ‘Solo’ film.

The YouTube channel “derpfakes” has been recently posting some amazing videos, demonstrating impressive capabilities of modern AI in visual effects.

We don’t know that the system actually is, but we do know how it works. AI analyzes a large collection of photos of a person and creates a large database, which is then used to digitally insert said human into a digital footage. In the most recent example, they’ve used the program to replace actor Alden Ehrenreich’s face with Harrison Ford’s in the trailer of ‘Solo’.

The final result looks amazing. We’d love to know a bit more about the trickery behind this effect.

UPD. Our dedicated reader shared a link with the video, which details the process. Two Minute Papers were covered on 80 Level several times. Great project.
