Guerrilla Games has released a new patch for its latest game, Horizon Forbidden West. Patch 1.17 is now available for the PlayStation 5 consoles and includes a number of updates and quest fixes as well as addresses several issues that were reported by the community.

One of the highlights of the new patch is Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and High Refresh Rate (HFR) support which is designed to eliminate screen tearing and incorrect frame pacing. Additionally, the developers have added a special "Balanced" 40Hz graphics mode for displays that support this configuration. It will allow players to maintain image quality and at the same time achieve a smoother and more stable frame rate compared to 30 fps.

The update is also intended to fix a number of issues in the game and brings several updates. Most notably, it fixes several problems with crashing in the main and side quests.
