Long-Awaited Underwater Simulator Launches in Two Weeks

Khena B's aquatic exploration game Subside has finally gotten an official release date.

After many months of hard work and countless mesmerizing demos, Khena B's long-awaited underwater exploration game for VR, Subside, has finally gotten an official release date, with the developer announcing on Twitter that you'll be able to experience Subside's gorgeous world and meet its aquatic inhabitants on September 17, 2024.

Powered by Unreal Engine, Subside first caught our attention in 2022, back when it was just a WIP water shader comprising a water plane, masked post-process shaders, and a decal shader for the caustics. Over time, however, the project transformed from a simple, albeit extremely mesmerizing, shader into a fully-fledged video game, gradually evolving through the addition of new underwater landscapes and inhabitants, impressive game mechanics, and enhanced water simulation, eventually becoming known to the world as Subside.

Throughout development, Khena has delighted the audience with stunning behind-the-scenes demos, diligently showcasing all of Subside's new features. Here are some of those demos that show the progress Khena has made over the past two years:
