Lumberyard 1.23 Available

Amazon has recently made available Lumberyard 1.23, the latest beta of the game engine.

The latest update introduces a new cloth simulation system and improves character animation performance. What is more, it makes Slices, the engine’s system of reusable components, human-readable.

The biggest thing is the experimental new Cloth gem, a real-time cloth simulation system based on Nvidia’s cloth technology.

The new system for clothing and environment assets supports gravity, wind forces, and collisions. You can import cloth assets into Lumberyard from FBX files.

The team also improved the engine's EMotion FX, character animation system, adding a new FBX Settings modifier for users to determine the minimum set of joints that should be enabled to skin a character correctly. This allows users to automatically generate skeleton LOD levels in which unnecessary joints are disabled.
