Make Your Own Godzilla Cinematic With This Free UE5 Film Masterclass

VFX Artist and Filmmaker Josh Toon and Senior CG Animator Jonathan Abenhaim have collaborated on a Godzilla short film made with Unreal Engine 5 and revealed how the movie magic happens in a YouTube masterclass for beginner filmmakers.

Senior CG Animator Jonathan Abenhaim, the author of #watchmeanimate YouTube channel, has joined VFX Artist and Filmmaker Josh Toonen in a one-week challenge to create a short film with Unreal Engine 5 featuring a Godzilla animation made with Unreal Engine's Control Rig.

In the accompanying YouTube livestream, Josh Toonen explained the whole filmmaking workflow starting from the idea to the final cinematic. It's a great start for beginner filmmakers since it's not a step-by-step tutorial, but rather a discussion on some filmmaking basics and approaches.

Josh Toonen has also shared some techniques he learned from animation giants like Pixar, revealed the shortcuts he picked up from Godzilla vs. Kong on building cinematic environments faster and easier, and explained how to upgrade your renders to Hollywood-level VFX.
