New Course: Hard Surface Modeling for Characters

The course is being led by Laura Gallagher, who’s currently working as a Lead Character Artist at Guerrilla Games.

If you’ve watched some of the recent demo videos from NVIDIA, you must have wondered: “How did they do these characters?”. Well, if you have the time and a little bit of cash you can get some answers during a great CGMA course ‘Hard Surface Modeling for Characters’. This new course is being led by Laura Gallagher, who’s currently working as a Lead Character Artist at Guerrilla Games.

Laura has worked in game development for over 10 years, helping build Deus Ex and Tomb Raider. She was actually fortunate to contribute to some amazing projects with Open Bionics, where she worked on the production of real prosthetics.

Her new course takes about 6 weeks. It starts on April 20th and ends at 29th of June (it might change, so do check the official CGMA website). The course covers techniques and challenges of designing and building hard surfaces for characters. The goal is to get students to look at the subject matter from a new perspective and to take away as much knowledge, tips, tricks, and techniques as possible for use in their own work.
