Newzoo: Global Games Market Will Fall 4.3% in 2022

By 2025, the number of players will reach 3.5 billion globally.

Newzoo has published a new report, which states that the global games market will generate $184.4 billion in 2022, down by 4.3% year-on-year. This fall is not something to be worried about, however, as it follows two years of lockdown-fueled growth.

Half of the gaming revenues come from mobile, which will generate $92.2 billion this year, 6.4% less than last year. PC accounts for about 22% of the market and will grow 0.5% to $40.5 billion. Meanwhile, console gaming will decline by 4.2% to $51.8 billion, which is 28% of the global market.

Newzoo's long-term outlook for the market remains positive: it thinks the games market will grow to $211.2 billion by 2025.

According to the report, the Asia-Pacific games market will remain the largest in terms of revenues: it will generate $87.9 billion, it's a 5.6% decline year-on-year and 48% of the market. North America will make $48.4 billion (26% of the global market) followed by Europe with $32.9 billion (18%).

The revenues are generated by 3.2 billion players this year. Newzoo believes this number will reach 3.5 billion.
