NYXI Announces GameCube Controller for Switch Without Drift

A retro replacement for Joy-Cons.

NYXI has announced a new controller for Nintendo Switch called NYXI Wizard Wireless Joy-pad. It might look familiar to you because it's very similar to GameCube's WaveBird. While it does look stylish, the best part is that the controller apparently doesn't suffer from stick drift – a common problem of modern Joy-Cons. This is because the Wizard uses Hall effect sensors, which means the joystick doesn't physically touch the sensor, so it doesn't wear out.

The controller also features removable joysticks, remappable buttons, and replaceable joystick rings, meaning you can choose between a circular or octagonal ring around the stick. According to NYXI, its buttons are quieter, lighter, have less resistance, and have shorter trigger distances.

The company promises that the Wizard's 500 mAh battery can last 8.5 hours. It's pretty light, just 248g, and costs $69.99.
