Physically-Accurate Propatagium Membrane Set Up in Maya

Brendan Body demonstrated a correct way of animating winged creatures.

Principal Animator at Jumpship Studio Brendan Body, who specializes primarily in highly-realistic creature animations, has published a short video demonstrating a way of creating physically-correct wings for digital winged creatures.

In the video, the artist showcased an accurate propatagium membrane, a body part that assists birds, bats, and other flying animals in flight, created in Maya by adding "some blendshapes to the wing and set driven keys based on the rotation of the forearm". Additionally, the creator utilized Truong's The Tyrant Dragon rig for this project.
