PlayStation Won't Be At E3 2020

Sony's spokesperson officially stated that PlayStation won't be at Electronic Entertainment Expo this year.

Sony's spokesperson told Gameindustry.biz that PlayStation won't take part in E3 this year. The company doesn't feel that E3's vision is right for its plans for 2020.

"After a thorough evaluation, SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year. We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content.", stated the spokesperson of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

ESA that hosts E3 every year also released a statement. The company didn't mention Sony's absence on the event for the second time in a row but pointed out that E3 2020 will feature new partners and experiences that will grab the attention of new and veteran attendees equally.

Instead of participating in E3, Sony wants to concentrate on hosting a number of events on its own.

"We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans."

Sony used to reveal its new products on E3, so it's quite curious where and when will Sony show PlayStation 5.

Following the announcement, XBOX made it clear that it won't miss E3 and most probably will show the new console there.

E3, or Electronic Entertainment Expo, is an annual international digital event for computer and video games and related products. This year, it will take place on 9-11 June, 2020 in Los Angeles, USA. Check the website for more information.
