RealityScan 1.4.1 Received The Double-Tap To Zoom Feature

The latest version of the photogrammetry app RealityScan has easier access to the quickstart guide, double-tap to zoom feature, and various minor bug fixes.

RealityScan is a photogrammetry app developed by Epic Games in collaboration with Capturing Reality, which allows users to create highly detailed 3D models simply by taking photos with their mobile devices. You don't need to have any previous scanning experience, since the the application features an intuitive user interface and will take you through the whole process, highlighting any area that requires extra photos.

The app provides the necessary tools for reviewing and editing the scanned models. RealityScan also features the Project Library, allowing one to sort and fix the models and give them names and descriptions. Users can export their scanned models directly to Sketchfab or download them for further use in other software like Unreal Engine or post-processing tools.

We already covered the main features of the RealityScan 1.4 that came out last month and included improved cropping experience and automatic unwanted artifact removal. This time, the app's update is mostly focused on minor bug fixes and UX improvements.

RealityScan 1.4.1 brings out two new features, such as easy quickstart guide access, which can be done now by simply tapping the "?" icon in your project list, and the ability to double-tap to zoom in Set Area/Crop mode in order to zoom in on a specific part of the point cloud.

A 3D Generalist Pete Mc Nally has also recently spoken to us about the photogrammetry process and workflow behind his series of recreated foods, which is worth checking out:
