Rumor: PlayStation's Project Q Is Expected to Have a Battery Life of 3-4 Hours

Insider Tom Henderson believes this could pose a challenge for the company.

Last week, Sony unveiled Project Q, a new handheld device designed for on-the-go gaming that will allow users to stream games from their PlayStation 5 using Remote Play over Wi-Fi.

Shortly after the handheld's announcement, industry insider Tom Henderson, who had previously shared information about this device nearly two months before Project Q was officially introduced at the PlayStation Showcase, published a new report claiming to disclose additional information about the device.

According to Henderson, apart from the details he disclosed in his earlier report which turned out to be accurate, he has also discovered that the battery life of Project Q is estimated to be only about 3-4 hours.

If this information is to be believed, players might be disappointed by the device's short battery life, especially considering that the handheld can only be used in conjunction with the PS5. Still, as Henderson points out, the success of Project Q may heavily rely on its pricing.

He suggests that if the accessory is priced at $200 or less, it could see strong sales numbers. However, considering PlayStation's tendency to have higher price tags on its products, it is unlikely that the company will offer it at such an affordable price point.

Project Q is scheduled for release before the end of 2023, and the developers plan to provide more information about the device in the coming months.
