Skyrim Is Getting A New Online Co-Op Mod Later This Week

Up to eight players will be able to replay all quests together.

Skyrim Together Reborn, a new and improved co-operative mod for Skyrim, will launch later this week, on July 8. The new mod lets up to eight players to play Skyrim together. The modding team behind the project made sure that chests, audio and subtitled dialogue are fully synced between players' games, plus you can turn on PvP.

Previously, there was a co-op mod called Skyrim Together, but the new version was built from the ground up bringing major improvements. The team though noted that the mod is now flawless as it's incredibly difficult to deliver such an upgrade without the source code. Skyrim Together Reborn will be fully open source and they hope that new contributors will join.

"Making multiplayer games is very hard. Making a single-player game into a multiplayer game without source code is near impossible, especially with a development team that consists of a handful of students doing this for free in their free time. Please keep that in mind when playing Reborn. The mod won't be perfect," wrote the team. "It will occasionally crash, some quests will break, there will be bugs. This is not fixable. This is just the reality of making a multiplayer mod instead of having a massive studio like Bethesda make a multiplayer game. Still, it's playable, it's fun, and it's a lot better than the old Skyrim Together mod, which was the goal of Reborn."
