Sony's Latest Promo Accused of Ripping Animations

A colorful Sony promo turned into a disaster.

The PlayStation 4 Lineup Music Video Winter Mix was created to present Sony's extensive game library, but turned out to be a disaster for the company. The latest version was accused of using several animations of other artists, including students.

Initially shared on 29th November by the team of PlayStation Japan, the video is now private after several accusations of art theft. For example, the video featured the work of Russian animator Oleg Kositsyn. Then, several other artists reported a theft as well.

Catsuka, a French animation website, has shared a comparison video to showcase the promotional disaster: the video used Cartoon Network's Steven Universe: The Movie, anime FLCL, and more. What is more, it is reported that the video also features some pieces created by students of Gobelins, a school in France.

The Japanese PlayStation blog states that the promo was created by Kevin Bao, a Canadian director who's received awards from the Ottawa International Animation Festival and London International Animation Festival.
