Spelkollektivet: Game Development Home

If you like making games and don’t mind spending a year in Sweden, we’ve got some wonderful news for you.

James Newnorth has recently shared a wonderful new project for game developers. This initiative is called Spelkollektivet. It’s a a co-living space for game developers from all over the world who wants to live and work with like-minded people. You can’t stay there forever: it’s only available for a 3 to 12 months at a time. The house itself is situated in Småland, Sweden (30 minutes north of Karlshamn).

The benefits are obvious. You are surrounded by your peers, you can work on games all day long, plan, build those pretty environments, figure out game mechanics. No need to worry about cooking, taxes, bills. It’s all done for you. There’s also a gym, workshop, virtual reality room, pool, jacuzzi, three different types of sauna, streaming/podcast room, marketing and help from experts. Not bad.

There’s a couple of rooms you can choose from. Starting from 4.990 SEK per month ($600). It’s not awfully expensive, if you take into account the costs of electricity and other stuff. It’s a steal actually. You can apply over here.
