Sunday Environmental Design Showcase: Nature in Unity 5 and Unreal 4

We’re showcasing some very impressive examples of environmental design in Unreal Engine 4 and Unity 5.

We’re showcasing some very impressive examples of environmental design in Unreal Engine 4 and Unity 5.

Here are two works of the environmental artists working with different technologies: Unreal 4 and Unity 5. Both of these engines are free to work with (almost) and give developers incredible flexibility to create some amazing visuals. Today we have a look at some of the environmental design projects created by very talented artists.

A fresh “diorama” from Iestyn Lloyd looks very interesting. A little work with Unity 5 allowed Iestyn to create a picturesque scenery with a couple of spaceships. The lighting, the shadows and the whole nature environment look positively stunning. It seems like Skyrim had a secret child with Mass Effect. Very impressive work to study.

The work from UE Forum’s user Mike Bauer (bauervision) also looks impressive. He’s trying to build a little landscape and show the way you can play around with season’s in Unreal Engine 4. The first image is devoted to spring and it looks positively amazing. The image was even featured in the official UE4 group on Facebook.

We’re definitely going to see more work from Mike. He wants to recreate all the other seasons in this cool UE4 scene as well.

Another nice example of nice spring environment by Andrew Price. This level is actually made in Blender and there’s a big tutorial on how to make this scene in editor. Give it a try!

Which one do you like best?

Please send us any cool environmental design examples. We’d be happy to show them to our readers.
