The Matrix Awakens UE5 Demo Will Soon Be Removed from Digital Stores

The tech demo will be removed from PS Store and Microsoft Store on July 9.

The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience will be removed from online stores in a few days. A warning that starting July 9 the Matrix demo will no longer be available on PS Store and Microsoft Store appeared on Unreal Engine's official website.

"Not explored The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience yet? There’s still time! The UE5 tech demo will only be available in stores until July 9," the website reads.

The Unreal team hasn't provided any explanation for the move, but apparently, it is related to the fact that the authors' license for the franchise is probably expiring.

The developers advised downloading The Matrix: Awakens before that date in order to keep access to the demo forever as when the demo is added to the library, it can be re-downloaded at any time if you deleted it from your console.

The Matrix Awakens user experience powered by Unreal Engine 5 was revealed in December 2021 at The Game Awards. The demo is intended to show the capabilities of the Epic Games engine on current generation consoles.

Using The City Sample, an asset pack that contains numerous city assets from The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience, many artists released a lot of mods for the demo including the Hong Kong-looking scene and a new Superman game prototype.

If you haven't downloaded the demo, you still have a chance to do it until July 9 on Unreal Engine's official website.
