6 3D Artists from our 80 Level Talent Platform have shared information about themselves, their ways to improve artistic skills, and what their go-to software is.

What is Your Dream Job?

My dream job would be to work in a dynamic team, where every individual exchanges creative ideas and learns from each other, and the works will always be challenging that I could gain knowledge from it.

How Do You Upgrade Your Skills?

I usually search for online tutorials of the artists that I admire, such as Feng Zhu, Maciej Kuciara, John Sweeney, etc. I also practice with the new skill set I learn in my spare time. And I've taken a four-month online program of FZD Design to study entertainment design in 2017.

If You Could Choose 3 Software for the Production, What Would Those Be?

Photoshop, Blender, and Unreal Engine.

What is Your Dream Job?

My dream job is to be a matte painter; it feels like working a traditional collage with a purpose. I am not saying that Concept Artist does not fit in, but matte painting is what I love to do.

How Do You Upgrade Your Skills?

I always take courses, now I am taking a 10 weeks Visual Narrative course and a world-building in Blender. I learn from other artists by analyzing their work and finding mistakes or what I like and dislike to avoid or use the findings in my work. I would like to retake 2 of the CGMA courses but I am a bit tight right now. The fall and winter semesters will be a fit.

If You Could Choose 3 Software for the Production, What Would Those Be?

For me to be productive, I would use Affinity Designer and Photo, which replaces Photoshop (I do not pay monthly per software); it is easy to learn and use, Blender, which replaces Maya, and Unreal.

What is Your Dream Job?

I'm lucky, I already have my dream job (3D Artist & Render Specialist). I would like to increase my capacity and work in more important environments.

How Do You Upgrade Your Skills?

I study the programs that interest me through online courses. First I try to understand through specific websites or presentation videos if the program can do it for me.

At the moment I use Cinema4D, Corona Render, and Photoshop for most of the work. I would like to also study ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Redshift.

What is Your Dream Job?

I've always liked the world of technology and science fiction, I'm very curious about the mechanisms of tools and how they work. All this mixed together makes me feel a strong passion for Hard Surface modeling.

My dream job is to belong to a company where I can further develop my Hard Surface skills and collaborate on large projects that when I see it after a few years I can be satisfied with what has been created.

How Do You Upgrade Your Skills?

I think in the end it is a combination of listening to your references, spending many hours at home, and reading updated information from articles where you can find different types of Pipelines and Workflow. Contacting people related to what you like is also a good exercise to socialize and share ideas.

If You Could Choose 3 Software for the Production, What Would Those Be?

If I could only choose between 3 programs they would be Unreal Engine, 3dsMax, and Substance Painter. I think these 3 are fundamental, although there are more software that would help to obtain a more professional result.

What is Your Dream Job?

My dream job is to become an Environment Concept Artist for a AAA game, film, or animation studio. My biggest inspirations were ID Software's Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, and many more.

I constantly upgrade my skills by going through many online tutorials, reading a lot of books related to my art field, posting on social media for feedback, and last but not least taking professional courses in CGMA.

If You Could Choose 3 Software for the Production, What Would Those Be?

My 3 most used software are Photoshop, 3ds Max, and V-Ray, but I also blend in other software like ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag, Unreal Engine, and now I am studying Blender, Octane Render, and World Creator.

How Do You Upgrade Your Skills?

This year, I am exclusively learning Blender. I had never tried any 3D program until this year. I hope to be able to increase my skills later with more programs such as Substance Painter or Marvelous Designer. I try to update myself whenever I can, learning new work tools.
