Toys For Bob Is Becoming Independent

The studio behind Skylanders, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is leaving Activision Blizzard and exploring a partnership with Microsoft.

Toys For Bob, owned by Activision Blizzard for 19 years, has announced its independence. Known for Skylanders, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, it has been helping with Call of Duty lately.

"With the same enthusiasm and passion, we believe that now is the time to take the studio and our future games to the next level. This opportunity allows us to return to our roots of being a small and nimble studio."

Moreover, the studio is considering a partnership with Microsoft. It hasn't shared any details on that yet but mentioned that the team is in the early days of developing its next new game.

The decision to go indie comes several weeks after its office was closed and the team lost 86 employees. Back then, it was reported that Toys For Bob would continue working remotely or in Activision Blizzard's offices, but it looks like it had other ideas.

The company claims that Activision and Microsoft have been supportive of its direction and the studios will work closely together in the future.
