There is a thought that scanned assets lack the artistic value. They are just grim digital copies of the reality and cannot be used outside of the realistic setting. Recent work by a very talented Ukrainian 3d artist Alexander Maltsev proves the supporters of this point of view wrong.

Using the wide variety of assets from Megascans, he created a very detailed and artistically rich scene, which brought him recognition and love from the 3d art fans. In this recent tutorial, narrated by Quixel’s Wiktor Öhman, Alexander covered all the basics and discussed the way the whole thing was created.

The whole project took just 3 days to complete, but it could be produced even faster, had the workflow been optimized. Very cool take on Cinema 4D and Megascans combo. Plus this tutorials sheds a light on the cool rendering techniques with Octane.
