3D Metasites by 80.lv Community: A Street In 19th Century France

Check out a new experience added to the 80 Level's cloud streaming service.

This week, we would like to highlight this beautiful experience by talented 3d environment artist, Nadine Mayer. Explore the charming 19th-century streets of France, enjoy the majestic restaurants and fruit stands, and discover a mysterious courtyard!

A Street In 19th Century France

Created by Nadine Mayer.

A Street in 19th Century France was inspired by the creator's passion for 3D environments, especially immersing into the architectural styles of past eras. Intrigued by the concept of Tan Yang Jim's strong aesthetics and intricate details, there came a moment to refine and expand artistic skills through this project.

"Integrating interactions into my 3D scene has been a challenge due to my limited experience with blueprints. My goal was to set up a key and door system to create a mysterious atmosphere and achieve interaction. By watching YouTube tutorials, I gained extensive knowledge and enhanced my skills," stated the artist.

Transported to 19th-century France, the player explores a quaint part of a small French town. Restaurants with outdoor seating line the street, while a nearby fruit vendor's stand adds to the authentic atmosphere. Autumn winds blow leaves through the street, and a puddle still bears witness to the last downpour. As players embark on a quest to find the key, they unravel the mystery of a hidden courtyard.

The goal was to work efficiently by implementing trim sheets, vertex painting, and second UV sets. These techniques improved production time. The scene was developed in Unreal Engine 5.1.1. For modeling, Maya was used. Substance Designer was utilized for creating tileable materials, while props and trim sheets were textured within Substance Designer. In ZBrush, the cobblestones were sculpted to the appropriate material, and traces of use were added to the props. Apples, 3D plants, and atlases were integrated from Quixel Megascans.
