Navigation Chambers was inspired by the creator's introduction to a universe characterized by its blend of gothic and sci-fi elements, as well as the intricate detail in its art. This project explores that style and aesthetic, aiming to capture the essence of the universe while incorporating creative touches that result in an environment familiar to fans of these genres yet distinct in its execution.
“Players can expect to experience a richly detailed and atmospheric environment that embodies the fusion of gothic and sci-fi influences. The level features intricate architectural designs, industrial elements, and ambient lighting, all contributing to a grand and mysterious atmosphere. The environment showcases a central chamber, where the interplay of light, color, and opulent decoration creates a sense of awe and reverence. This space is not intended to evoke horror but rather a feeling of exploration and discovery, inviting players to immerse themselves in its narrative and visual storytelling”, stated the artist.
To bring this environment to life, Unreal Engine was primarily used, leveraging its powerful rendering and lighting capabilities alongside the new PCG tool. Substance Painter was utilized for texturing, while Blender was the primary tool for modeling assets. RizomUV was essential for UV mapping of the models, ensuring clean and efficient textures. Additionally, Houdini was used to create HDA tools, significantly streamlining the workflow and enabling the generation of complex elements more efficiently. These HDAs are available on Orbolt for commercial use, reflecting a commitment to sharing resources with the broader creative community.
