Godot 4.4.1 Maintenance Release Resolves Over 100 Bugs

It's time to update with the first bug-fix release since the launch of version 4.4.

The launch of Godot Engine 4.4 was a huge success, introducing many exciting features, with many users upgrading on day one. However, the development team has identified and fixed several critical bugs, leading to the first maintenance release.

While development on Godot Engine 4.5 is progressing at full speed, with the first dev snapshot released last week, the primary focus of the Godot development team has been on addressing remaining and newly reported issues that affect users who upgraded to Godot 4.4.

58 contributors submitted around 125 fixes for this release. Godot Engine 4.4.1 also includes important fixes for security vulnerabilities in the mbedTLS third-party library, making it a strongly recommended update for any game using networking functionality.

Maintenance releases are generally safe to upgrade, but it's always a good idea to make backups or use a version control system like Git to safeguard your projects against potential corruption or data loss. As of now, there are no known incompatibilities with the previous Godot 4.4 release. If you experience any unexpected behavior change in your projects after upgrading to 4.4.1, please file an issue on GitHub.
