Here's How NVIDIA's RTX-Powered AI Solutions Boost DaVinci Resolve's Workflows

NVIDIA's latest AI Decoded blog post offers a deep dive into DaVinci Resolve 19's new AI tools, discussing their applications and how they can benefit Digital Artists when combined with RTX GPUs.

In case you missed the news, NVIDIA has recently kicked off AI Decoded, the company's new blog aiming to educate and inform the audience on the latest news, insights, and inspiration concerning RTX-powered artificial intelligence in a weekly format. Discussing the use of AI for gaming, creating, live streaming, productivity, development, and more, the series seeks to demystify Al, rendering the technology more approachable, while also spotlighting the latest hardware, software, tools, and accelerators for RTX PC enthusiasts.

The blog's latest edition offers a deep dive into the RTX-boosted AI features of the software ingrained into the workflows of many Digital Artists: DaVinci Resolve, developed by Blackmagic Design.

For those unfamiliar, DaVinci Resolve is a powerful VFX application highly regarded for its extensive capabilities. It allows artists to handle a wide range of tasks seamlessly, eliminating the need to switch between different applications. DaVinci Resolve includes tools for video editing, color grading, color correction, visual effects, and audio post-production, among others. With its most recent update, DaVinci Resolve 19, the software got upgraded even further with a new DaVinci Neural Engine AI toolset, along with over 100 feature upgrades, streamlining the production process for Editors, Colorists, and VFX Artists.

One of the new standout features of DaVinci Resolve is its IntelliTrack AI point tracker, which certainly deserves special attention. This advanced tool allows for the automatic generation of precise audio panning by tracking people or objects as they move across both 2D and 3D spaces. With AI-powered audio panning synced to video, you can efficiently pan multiple actors within a scene, controlling their voice positions within the mixed environment.

Another noteworthy addition is UltraNR, a brand-new denoise mode powered by the DaVinci Neural Engine, which has been incorporated into the spatial noise reduction palette on the Color page. This mode allows users to substantially reduce digital noise in a frame while maintaining image clarity. When combined with temporal noise reduction, it provides even more effective denoising for images with motion.

Both IntelliTrack AI and UltraNR, along with the other AI-powered tools introduced in DaVinci Resolve 19, achieve their maximum potential when combined with RTX GPUs by NVIDIA TensorRT. For instance, UltraNR operates three times faster on GeForce RTX 4090 compared to Mac M2 Ultra. Effects such as Beauty, Edge Detect, and Watercolor also benefit from AI acceleration, enjoying doubled performance on NVIDIA GPUs.
