At a closed panel during CES 2025, where different hardware developer presented their innovative developments that are not yet ready for the market, Intel presented a device with the codename AI8A, branded by the Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta.

As reported by the Verge, the AI8A is a 7-inch tablet powered by Intel Lunar Lake that can transform into a portable gaming console, laptop, or desktop PC. Users simply dock the device into one of several chassis options to switch modes. For some reason, the team didn't present a desktop chassis, but attendees had a chance to check out gaming console and laptop modules.
The Verge
Intel wants to allow users to upgrade their computers by replacing only the central processing unit without touching other components. Doesn't that sound too optimistic? Also, why? Intel didn't share much, but they said that the main feature is the detachable main module called "AI Core."
The Verge
The prototype of the AI8A shown at the booth lacked a battery, so journalists couldn't even launch the device – they couldn't only look at the construction of tech. The device is still far from becoming a finished product.
