Procedural Music Jam With UE5.5's Motion Design Tools

"I can have Cinema4D-style cloners/effectors but render in real-time and connect a fully procedural music system."

Patrick Hart, aka Tapes Club, played around with Unreal Engine 5.5's Motion Design tools, using a controller that utilized regular mapping. The artist mentioned that the updated tools are a lot of fun, especially when paired with everything else the engine has to offer.

Here, you're looking at an interactive toy created with cloner/effector systems, using some of the new features in UE5.5, as well as a fully procedural music system running in-engine.

The primary effector is controlled with the left stick and triggers and switches between different modes by pressing the face buttons. The main cloner system responds to the right stick for tilting. Importing SVGs is a breeze: the artist quickly brought in several SVG icons, extruded geometry, and placed them into a cloner that rotates through the scene. Music is generated across several different MetaSounds, all synchronized using Quartz.

Apparently, this project is also performant, while Patrick's PC is equipped with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and a GeForce RTX 3070, it's also functional on a Mac laptop, though there are some limitations.
