A Long-Awaited Update on Asher Zhu's UE5 Slime Simulator Game

The project was restarted from scratch after the developer had left Epic Games.

After seven months of relative radio silence, Game Developer, Director at Duck Shake Games, and former Technical Artist at Epic Games, Asher Zhu, has finally shared a new demo for his physically correct slime simulator game, providing a long-awaited update on the state of the project.

According to the developer, he left Epic back in late April to pursue his own passions, with the anticipated slime sim being one of them. Since his departure, Asher has rewritten the game from scratch, making the main character's movement feel more slime-like and adding the ability to spawn smaller slimelings. "I've always wanted Splatoon mechanics in dungeons," commented the author, hinting that we can expect to see more of what the upcoming game has to offer in the near future.

And here's how the game had looked during the prototype stage before the project was restarted:

We highly encourage you to follow Asher on Twitter so as not to miss any future updates. We also recommend checking out our interview with the developer, who previously joined 80 Level to share an enormous breakdown of his workflow in Unreal's Niagara Fluids, explain how to set up the water surface and whitewater particles, speak about making the water simulation's color scientifically accurate, and share some snippets of code.
