Ahamed Shalaby shared his work for the short film Go For Grandma.
Lead Rigger Ahmed Shalaby offered a close look at the CGI seagull created in collaboration with Trend VFX for Go For Grandma, a 2023 short film about a young boy who escapes a traumatic home life through the power of his imagination. This creature was one of the most complex bird rigs made for the film, featuring a large number of feathers to manage.
As the artist shared, it was an incredible joint effort, with valuable contributions from modeling, animation, grooming, and CFX. The experience allowed the team to refine the process and explore new ways to simplify the rigging of challenging creatures, like birds, for animators.
