"The choices you get and the outcomes in front of you are going to depend on what you're able to find."

Obsidian’s combat-focused RPG Avowed would have probably been live if it hadn’t been pushed back to early 2025 to give the game "breathing room" out of the busy period for Xbox Game Pass. But this extended waiting period won’t make players feel that they have nothing to do, as the developer offers bit-by-bit information about what to expect from the game — just like some appetizers, a few tasty bites before the feast.
In a recent talk with Edge magazine (via GamesRadar), game director Carrie Patel discussed the wide range of choices that players will encounter in the game, which they hope will bring a "meaningful roleplay" experience. According to her, "moment-to-moment opportunities" will be given to players so they can "express and explore where they're leaning."
"Giving players things to dig into - that's what makes it meaningful roleplay. It's about who you want to be in this world, and how these situations prepare you to express that."

However, the choices each player obtains might vary based on your findings. "The choices you get and the outcomes in front of you are going to depend on what you're able to find," Patel says. This design sounds like an interesting design and could probably encourage players to complete more playthroughs.
Avowed will be available on February 18, 2025, for Windows and Xbox Series X/S. Add it to your wishlist so you can be informed when it’s out.
