Battlefield 6 Is Reportedly Having The Largest-Scale Playtests The Franchise Has Ever Seen

Some major announcements about the latest installment of the military FPS franchise can be expected in the coming months.

In September of last year, we received information about a playtest scheduled for early 2025, along with various other details regarding the next installment of the Battlefield franchise. It turns out that this large-scale community-driven test could possibly be the biggest in the franchise’s history, as the developers hope the upcoming game meets the community’s expectations and avoids following the troublesome launches of Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042.

According to the sources of Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the playtests that Battlefield 6 received are more frequent compared with any other earlier titles. In regards to data and feedback collected from the studio’s “player first approach,” which involves taking information from channels like “small feedback sessions to large-scale player tests,” this time “is the most the franchise has seen in its history.”

Meanwhile, Insider Gaming said that some major announcements can be expected in the coming months. Before that, more playtests could be seen, where players will enroll in testing the multiplayer and the free-to-play Battle Royale that was developed by Ripple Effect. In previous official disclosures, Ripple Effect was said to be “working a new Battlefield experience fuelled by our unique Battlefield DNA that’s been testing really well with players.”

The next Battlefield will be one of the “most ambitious projects in [EA’s] history” and designed to return to the franchise’s roots. The game would feature 64-player matches and a four-class system while revamping the destruction systems.

It’s clear that DICE and Electronic Arts are trying their best to save the franchise from the track of losing confidence and attraction from players. Last week, a former DICE employee, known as Rizible, shared a wealth of information about the studio’s inner dealings about the upcoming Battlefield 6 and plans for the franchise as a whole.
