Flow, an animated film by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis, has had a remarkable year, collecting numerous awards throughout the awards season. As is often the case with Oscar nominees, the news will find you now, as the film has made a pretty significant mark for Latvia.
With Flow's surprising Golden Globe win for Best Animated Feature, beating out two Disney films, the new Wallace & Gromit and The Wild Robot, it was expected that Flow would secure an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. But the big surprise is that it got a second for Best International Feature, both Latvia's first-ever Oscar nominations.
