Kimié Maingonnat presented a tool inspired by the Labs version, featuring added options and enhanced calculation methods.
Houdini Artist Kimié Maingonnat shared her version of a cable generator tool inspired by the one Labs created, with additional options and adjustments to the calculation methods. As she explained, it includes a custom Draw Curve node to optimize the number of points for large scene assemblies or assets and calculate the distance between the curve and the walls, automatically adjusting the clip length accordingly.
An option the artist wants to integrate is incorporating the customized Draw Curve into the Cable Generator node. To achieve this, she is looking for a way to implement two distinct "initial states" in the HDA: one for drawing the curve and another for painting the simulation mask. Being able to switch between multiple states easily would be really useful for this workflow.
This tool is not yet available for sale, but if there is enough interest, it may be released soon. The artist welcomes feedback, so feel free to share your thoughts and follow Kimié Maingonnat on LinkedIn for updates on this project.
