Check Out This Highly Customizable VFX Trails Blender Library

AutoTrail comes with a multitude of different effects, from basic glows to a bubble trail with bubbles that really pop, to a trail with onomatopoeia comic book-style text.

AutoTrail, a new Geometry Nodes-powered Blender asset library of highly customizable trails with endless uses, will surely make some animators' lives easier. This product works on both straight lines and curved edges, meaning curved swords and all other types of curves are on the table.

At launch, the library boasts over 20 effects, from basic glowing, fire, ice, and water to more creative and complex with petals, rocks, and even onomatopoeia comic book-style text. All of these have a set of easily understandable controls and are highly performant.

Simply drag trails straight in from the asset browser, set the object that will have the trail, the vertex group that the trail should follow, and you have a fully functioning trail right away.

Not only are all of the trails highly customizable, but with the Blank Points Trail, you can make any collection trail your object. This trail also has controls to add gravity and noise, enabling you to create any particle trail that your heart desires.

Right now, AutoTrail is compatible with Blender 4.1 and above, but the developer aims to implement backward compatibility with Blender 3.0. Other future plans include the extension of the library of ready-made trails and the ability to only make trails appear when the object's velocity is above a certain threshold.

There are also two versions of this tool: free, which includes only default fire and lighting effects, and full, with the whole library of available effects.
