Check Out This Procedural Water Pistol Filling With Water

Cem Tezcan shared a new piece that has no 3D geometry, along with a tutorial.

Cem Tezcan, who recently wowed us with a procedural game console design made entirely in Substance 3D Designer without using any 3D geometry, has unveiled a new project, a procedural water pistol, this time recording and explaining the entire process from scratch.

By procedurally creating 6 sets of textures, Cem Tezcan displaced 6 planar planes using height maps to form this water pistol. Similar to the console, this pistol utilizes the "plastic injection molding" technique with added thickness. However, this time, the artist defined the material as a translucent plastic shell and animated the inner height map to simulate the water fill effect.
