Check Out This Surface Adhesion Houdini Digital Asset Test

Dante Metaphor is working on a custom solver.

Drawing inspiration from Wētā FX's work, Dante Metaphor, whose appetizing mitarashi dango dumpling simulation we've shared before, began experimenting with custom adhesion settings in an HDA and shared a new test. The developer mentioned that while it's still too costly to capture all details in a single solve, as evidenced by the loss of detail in the meshing, things are coming together nicely.

Dante suspects that performance could be improved by combining wet maps with a point-thick FLIP/POP solver to preserve fine surface details. He has some ideas, such as flattening the geometry into UV space and adjusting forces accordingly, followed by implementing a custom tension solver to create a thin skin sheet effect. There's still more work to be done.
