Do you hear the people sing? Singing the songs of angry men?
Last year, in October, to be exact, Don't Nod announced plans for a restructuring that could result in up to 70 employees being laid off. A major French union, STJV, which includes many of the studio's employees, began negotiations with Don't Nod's management to reach agreements on severance packages, bonuses for voluntary resignations, and other questions following the announcement.
Life is Strange
Now, STJV revealed that the deadline for reaching an agreement has passed, and Don't Nod has yet to even begin discussions on these matters. The union thinks the management is merely stalling and not interested in negotiating. What can people in France do about it? Starting January 13, the union has called for a renewable strike at the studio until the company addresses their concerns.
The strike was approved in a vote involving Don't Nod employees, with nearly 90% of respondents supporting it. If you want to support the team during the strike, you can contribute to a dedicated fund.
The restructuring is driven by Don't Nod's worsening financial performance. Several of the studio's recent games, including Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Jusant, failed to meet sales and revenue targets. What is more, Lost Records has been delayed until February.
