Doom: The Dark Ages' New Official Trailer Shows Off Brutal Weapons

"The Slayer has been activated."

Bethesda has released a new official trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages, the next installment of the beloved franchise, which mixes cinematics and gameplay and tells more about the story.

The trailer showcases new brutal weapons, including a massive crossbow and a tossable shield, as well as the Slayer's ability, the player's role who will be involved in "dark and sinister medieval war against Hell," to ride dragons and pilot mechs.

Announced last June, DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal (2020). It is set in a Middle Ages kingdom and explores the origin of the Doom Slayer. In January, the game received a gameplay sizzle trailer.

If you are new to the franchise, fear not, because it aims to become a "DOOM for all slayers." For the first time, the developers also would like to make the combat "more approachable and flexible than ever before," by adding additional gameplay sliders to allow players to adjust game speed to a level they prefer.

Last month, Game Director Hugo Martin and Producer Marty Stratton shed light on the game's weapons and how they differ from the armory of previous franchise installments. The developers revealed that there will be many new guns, with only the shotguns remaining unchanged. For each weapon, they had created new features from scratch.

The game will be released on May 15 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Pre-orders are available now, granting players two days of early access, a truly valuable privilege for eagerly waiting players, along with some other perks. The standard version is priced at $69.99, while the premium version costs $99.99.
