The famed game creator had applied "a lot of those learnings" in the coming DLC.
Poison swamps, a recurring feature in both the Dark Souls and Bloodborne series, are often considered a nightmare for many players due to the poisoned water that causes damage over time and often slows movement. This discomfort is set to continue in Elden Ring's DLC, as confirmed by developer Hidetaka Miyazaki. However, this time, it may be a different nightmare, if this wording helps offer a bit of relief.
In an interview with CNET, Miyazaki-san discusses the design of poison swamps in the upcoming DLC. He offers some insights:
"In terms of the poisonous swamp, I guess in the original Elden Ring I went a little too far. So I'm trying to take some learnings from that," Miyazaki said. "And you can say the version that exists in the DLC, which I've already confirmed, applies a lot of those learnings."

Some fans might be disappointed by this news, but Miyazaki promised that he has "tailored it." He went on to offer a glimpse of what fans can expect:
"In between it existing and not existing, with this version, let's just say I try to imagine different ways I want to die as a player or be killed. So that expression of myself has been imparted into the poison swamp.
So, not in the poison swamp itself -- that's been curbed -- but in other parts of the gameplay, there are many ways to die."

The phrase "there are many ways to die" indeed sounds like a death invitation to players. With the DLC launching tomorrow, players will soon get the chance to experience the "improved" poison swamps and these "many ways to die."
