Highly-Realistic Coastline Set Up in UE5 With Fluid Flux 2.0

Krystian Komisarek shared one more look at the soon-to-be-released Fluid Flux 2.0 add-on for Unreal Engine.

Game Developer and Programmer Krystian Komisarek has shared one more demo, showcasing the capabilities of Fluid Flux 2.0, an upcoming update for the powerful water system for Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5 based on 2D shallow-water fluid simulations Fluid Flux.

This time, the creator presented a highly-realistic coastline map set up with the new version of the add-on, noting that the 2.0 version will have a focus on large-scale 3D maps with oceans. According to the developer, the coastline seen in the demo is not simulated, as "the ocean water uses Wave Profiles and is blended with the pre-baked simulated state".

In addition, Krystian shared one more list of the update's new features and improvements:

  • Supported up to 10km x 10km of coastline area.
  • Large-scale surface mesh rendered using Niagara-based infinite grid mesh (64 particle meshes 128x128).
  • Three color slots ( shore, ocean, painter) and 24 predefined unique color schemes for easy customization.
  • New landscape material with wetness.
  • Underwater SLW material that supports the time of day change.
  • Wave break, wave shadow, new detail map.
  • New displacement animation for wave generated from FFT.
  • Improved boat interactions.
