Riot Games will also add a mechanic into the game they've been waiting to introduce for a long time.
Riot Games revealed that Mel, a beloved character from Arcane, will soon be added to the roster in League of Legends. The coolest thing is that the character can deflect projectiles back at enemies. The team shared that they have wanted to introduce this mechanic into the game for a long time.
Riot published a video marking the start of the first season of 2025 in League of Legends, which will introduce Mel from Arcane to the game.
Mel will join the MOBA after her mother, Ambessa, and the first thematic season of League of Legends will continue her story from the series.

The MOBA developers worked on Mel’s design and abilities with artists from Fortiche, aiming to create a game inspired by the animated series and vice versa.
One of Mel’s abilities features a mechanic Riot has wanted to implement for a long time – projectile reflection. While preserving their original properties, the character can deflect abilities like Jinx’s rocket or Nami’s bubble back toward enemies.

This ability references the second season of Arcane, where Mel used it to protect Caitlyn from a bullet. Mel will not be available immediately at the start of the season but will be added in an upcoming patch at the end of January. You can watch the full video here.
Previously, Riot showcased a cinematic for the first season, dedicated to Noxus, created by Fortiche. It not only continued the story of Arcane but also teased its sequel. You can watch it here.
