Well, the footer in this article is what the developers wrote on the newly announced game's Steam page. They clearly knew you, me, and everyone else's reactions while reading the headline. And the answer is, yes, they do, and it's not an April Fool's joke.
Last year, when the announcement trailer for Pal♡World! ~More Than Just Pals~ was out on the same day, my colleague thought, as many did, that it might unfortunately be a joke for the day, but she still held the imagination it would be real. I guess she bets it right this time.
The company has kept the promise shown at the end of the old trailer, "coming April 1, 2025." They released a new trailer and launched a Steam page. Meanwhile, Pocketpair's community manager, John "Bucky" Buckley, has assured fans that the game is real and not another April Fools' prank.
Now that we can take it seriously, let's see what the game will offer and what to expect from the creator of the hit open-world survival game. "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palpagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them," reads the game description.
The developer also teased that Pals could take off their clothes, and an adult version would be released without revealing more details and leaving some space for even more imagination.
